The Rolling Stones exhibition, curated by Simon Poole, is the first of the touring exhibitions to visit the new galleries. The evolving gallery displays include audio visual recollections and rooms that reflect Portsmouth music history from the 1950s and 1960s, including local and national bands, Portsmouth venues and coffee bars and music performers at the Guildhall.

Music historians Dave Allen and Nigel Grundy, with input from the music historian Mick Cooper, have designed the displays and curated the many photographs, posters and people's recollections of the 1960s.

Popped into the Guildhall exhibition yesterday and just wanted to say how brilliant it all looks. Forget the Rolling Stones photos, the Pompey Pop bit is fantastic! - even has 'the feel' of the sixties with all that matt black and pop art stripes - just like wandering round the back corridors of the Birdcage.

Just got back fromthe Guildhall - half an hour of sheer joy! In fact, with the Stones playingin the backgroundand surrounded by so many memories, I got goose-pimples on my arms. Will return for more.

Frank Henry.
